ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a telephone conversation with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to the press service of the Armenian Cabinet of Ministers, on behalf of the people of Armenia and on his own behalf, Pashinyan once again expressed his sincere condolences to the government of Georgia, the Georgian Orthodox Church, and the fraternal Georgian people on the death of Catholicos- Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia.
Irakli Kobakhidze expressed gratitude for the kind words and support.
It should be noted that today at a government briefing, Pashinyan, answering ArmInfo's question about whether he considered the participation of Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II (who is under travel restrictions) in the farewell ceremony important, noted that he does not recognize Ktrich Nersisyan (the secular name of Garegin II - ed.) as Catholicos. "Armenia will participate in the funeral at the highest level. I intend to call the Georgian Prime Minister and offer my condolences personally. We are discussing the format for our participation. I cannot speak about other formats," Pashinyan said.
As a reminder, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II died at the age of 93 in a Tbilisi clinic on March 17. The Georgian patriarch will be buried in Sioni on Sunday, March 22.
