ArmInfo. On the Day of Crimea's reunification with Russia, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin took part in the ceremonial opening of the Victory Museum exhibition "Crimea. 80th Anniversary of the Heroic Feat" at the Russian House in Yerevan.
According to the press service of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, in his welcoming remarks, the head of the Russian diplomatic mission emphasized the importance of the all-Crimean referendum held 12 years ago, during which the peninsula's residents unanimously voted for accession to Russia, and recalled the shared contribution of the multinational Soviet people to the liberation of Crimea from the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War. "It's fitting that this exhibition opens in Yerevan. Hundreds of thousands of Armenians fought in the Red Army. The participation of the Armenian people in the liberation of Crimea in the spring of 1944 is one of the most striking chapters in the military brotherhood of the peoples of the USSR," noted Kopyrkin.
As part of the exhibition opening, an awards ceremony was held for young historians participating in the Rossotrudnichestvo international project "Keepers of Memory," dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The guest of honor at the event was Nerses Oganesovich Simonyan, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a Red Navy sailor, and a participant in the battles for Novorossiysk, Kerch, and Sevastopol.
