ArmInfo. Nine cars suffered flat tires on a small stretch of road in Yerevan due to the carelessness of the Armenian capital's authorities, as reported on Facebook by Mesrop Manukyan, a member of the Yerevan City Hall Council of Elders from the "Mother Armenia" faction. He also posted video evidence to support his claims.
Manukyan explained that the damage to the vehicles, in particular the flat tires, was caused by massive potholes resulting from damages to the road surface. "This is what happens when a city is 'ownerless,'" he noted, rhetorically asking Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, "Who destroyed the roads?"
"Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, is it normal for you that anyone can destroy Yerevan's central streets, and that city residents find themselves in this situation? In this video alone, nine cars had flat tires due to the poor road conditions," Manukyan concluded.
It should be noted that the roads in Yerevan are in dire condition. Citizens have been complaining about the huge potholes that have formed on the city's roads due to the inaction of the Yerevan City Hall. Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, responding to citizens' discontent, assured that the roads began to deteriorate because they were treated with salt. However, Yerevan residents remember well that the city authorities didn't bother to treat the roads with chemicals when it snowed.
Recall, in February, Yerevan Deputy Mayor Armen Pambukhchyan, in response to journalists' questions, stated that the Yerevan City Hall doesn't have a set procedure for compensating drivers whose cars were damaged due to potholes. He also attributed the current situation on Yerevan's roads to contractors, who, according to him, are not carrying out their work properly. It should be noted that the 2026 budget allocates over 100 billion drams for road construction and repair programs.
