


ArmInfo.One of the streets in Armenia's capital will be named after legendary coach and football player Nikita Simonyan. The decision was made at a meeting of the Yerevan Council of Elders.
According to the municipality's press service, a street in the Hrazdan Gorge, running through the Kentron administrative district, will be named after Nikita Simonyan. It will begin on Atenk Street near the Hrazdan Stadium and end on Halabyan Street.
By another decision of the Council of Elders, a street in the Ajapnyak administrative district will be named after People's Artist of the Armenian SSR Khachatur Avetisyan. It will begin on Second Silikyan Street and end on Seventh Street. As a reminder, Nikita Simonyan-First Vice President of the Russian Football Union, Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation, Honored Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Honored Coach of the RSFSR, and Honored Coach of the USSR-passed away on November 23, 2025. In 1973, he led Yerevan's "Ararat" to a gold double.
Khachatur Avetisyan was an outstanding Armenian composer whose work has become an integral part of the country's musical heritage. A People's Artist of the Armenian SSR and State Prize laureate, he masterfully combined academic rigor with the uniqueness of folk traditions and left a significant mark on 20th-century musical culture.
