ArmInfo.Armenia's Anti-Corruption Court has found Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the "Prosperous Armenia" party and oligarch, not guilty of vote-buying. The decision was announced on March 11.
During the court hearing, defense attorney Emin Khachatryan requested Tsarukyan's acquittal. The party leader chose not to make a closing statement. Following the hearing, Tsarukyan told reporters that he had doubted justice until the very end and was already preparing to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.
Tsarukyan was charged under Article 219 Part 1 of the Criminal Code - for bribery. According to the prosecutor's office, during the parliamentary elections in Armenia on April 2, 2017, voters were allegedly given bribes to vote for one of the party blocs.
