ArmInfo. We welcome your visit to Armenia, especially ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections, as stated by Seyran Ohanyan, leader of the opposition "Armenia" faction in the National Assembly, during a meeting with the representatives of the International Observatory for Democracy in Armenia (IODA) on March 11.
According to the NA press service, during the meeting, Ohanyan noted that the faction highly values the participation of independent observers in the electoral process, as well as the initiative's activities as an unofficial and non-partisan platform.
"We are a group of independent experts working on human rights protection issues. We are in Armenia to understand all the challenges that may hinder the holding of free and independent elections," said Kenneth Roth, human rights activist and former Executive Director of Human Rights Watch.
The initiative's participants noted that the goal of their mission is to assess the democratic state of the country ahead of the elections to the RA National Assembly on June 7, 2026. The deputes of the faction answered the guests' questions, touching on the domestic political situation in Armenia, the current issues, as well as possible obstacles that threaten the holding of free and independent elections.
