ArmInfo.Armenia is developing a comprehensive security model in collaboration with the public and private sectors, civil society, and the academic community. This was announced at the conference "Comprehensive Security: Developing a Security Model for the Whole of Armenian Society," which was attended by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan and Ambassador Vasilis Maragos, Head of the European Union Delegation to Yerevan.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in his speech, the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of cooperation with the EU, which is supporting Armenia in developing a comprehensive security and defense action plan. He noted that this cooperation will enable the aforementioned ideas to be translated into practical steps. According to Armen Ghazaryan, the key issue in developing comprehensive security in Armenia is the development of the capacity of state institutions and their sustainable strengthening, which is also of great importance in the context of long-term cooperation on the Armenian-European agenda. "On this path to peace and development, currently outlined in the government's action plan, we see a shift in thinking. The Ministry of Internal Affairs, responsible for the country's internal security, crime prevention, disaster prevention, and migration policy, also plays an important and key role in this matter," the Deputy Minister emphasized.
Noting the existing challenges, Armen Ghazaryan noted that to overcome them, it is necessary to clearly define goals, build appropriate capabilities, and develop effective behavioral models. He also assured that the Ministry of Internal Affairs' position on strengthening security is clear, and the agency will continue to work within the framework of its adopted policy.
The discussions also addressed issues of civil-military cooperation, trade and economic security, food security, and developing capacity to counter hybrid challenges.
