ArmInfo. While Iran's opponents are trying to 'pave the way' for a ground invasion, Iran is trying to liminate any potential threat that could exploit such a situation. Iranologist Vardan Voskanyan shared this viewpoint on his Telegram channel, when discussing developments surrounding Iran.
He noted that the leaders of the Kurdish autonomous region in northern Iraq are distancing themselves from the plan to use the Kurdish factor against Iran, fearing excessive military, political, and economic instability within the autonomous region. Meanwhile, as the expert noted, the fact that this plan is still being seriously pursued in a war against Iran is also confirmed by US President Donald Trump's frank statement that he would support Kurdish forces if they launch a ground operation against Iran.
"According to available information, last night and this morning, a significant portion of American and Israeli airstrikes were concentrated in the direction of the Iranian province of Kurdistan and its center, Sanandaj. Thus, they attempted to 'pave the way' for a ground invasion," Voskanyan noted.
The expert added that in response, Iran launched heavy strikes against the camps of two Kurdish groups in Iraqi Kurdistan. "Consequently, while Iran's adversaries seek to 'pave the way' for a ground invasion, Iran is trying to ensure that no one remains who could exploit it," Voskanyan concluded.
