ArmInfo. The return home of 104 Armenian citizens from Goa has been organized amid tensions in the Middle East, as reported by Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan on her Facebook page.
According to her, in recent days, the Armenian Embassy in India (which also has accredited offices in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal) has been operating on an emergency basis. Badalyan reported that contact had been maintained with Armenian citizens in the accredited countries due to flight cancellations caused by the escalating situation in the Middle East, primarily in India and Sri Lanka for tourism purposes. She added that the necessary information had been collected and options for their return to Armenia were being explored.
"The Embassy has consistently worked to obtain the necessary flight permits, including in collaboration with the Indian Ministry of Aviation and the Ministry of External Affairs. Late in the evening on March 5, participants in the regular Coastal Startup Summit event in India and members of a tour group (Vardan Travel), a total of 104 citizens of the Republic of Armenia, departed from Goa for Yerevan. The plane has already landed at Zvartnots Airport," she said.
Badalyan also emphasized that 12 Armenian citizens from Sri Lanka and six from Goa, who are there for tourism or business purposes, as well as two citizens from the Maldives, have currently reached out to the Armenian Embassy in New Delhi. It is noted that options for their return are being explored.
