ArmInfo. The results of a sociological survey conducted three months ago on the upcoming parliamentary elections have not yet been published.
This was stated to journalists by Hayk Mamijanyan, leader of the opposition parliamentary faction "I Have the Honor," on March 6, commenting on the results of a survey conducted by the International Republican Institute, according to which the Republican Party of Armenia, led by third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and part of the "I Have the Honor" faction, will not find a place in the next parliament.
It should be noted that according to the International Republican Institute's survey, the ruling Civil Contract party will receive 24% of the vote in the June 7 elections, Strong Armenia - 9%, the ARF - 3%, and the Prosperous Armenia Party - 3%. The remaining parties will not even receive 1% of the vote. In this regard, Mamijanyan noted that he personally has no information regarding why IRI has not published the results for the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA). "Frankly, I'm not interested in this rating. I'm interested in what was announced at the recent press conference and the RPA statement released there, the essence of which boils down to one thing: the removal of Nikol Pashinyan (RA Prime Minister - ed.) from power," the MP noted, pointing to the enormous security threats facing Armenia. Specifically, Meghri is in danger, while Baku is discussing options for constructing a railway through sovereign Armenian territory without Yerevan's participation, among other challenges.
The oppositionist, noting the ruling party's enthusiasm for the survey results, noted that the Civil Contract party simply doesn't know how to read, since drawing parallels between the opinion poll and the electoral ratings would reveal that Nikol Pashinyan's position would be, at the very least, precarious. However, as Hayk Mamijanyan noted, this doesn't mean this will be the outcome of the elections. There are still three months to go, not a single list has been published yet, and only half of the candidates for the prime minister's seat have submitted their applications.
Speaking about MP Martun Grigoryan's resignation from the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and his joining the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), the opposition leader stated that he respects his colleague's decision.
Regarding the RPA's proposed impeachment of the prime minister, he noted that impeachment is tantamount to street fighting. The MP emphasized that impeachment discussions with opposition forces will focus on a single agenda: removing Nikol Pashinyan from power. "Impeachment and elections are not mutually exclusive. There is no contradiction between them, either legally or politically. Therefore, those who wish to respond to the RPA platform will have to take all of the above into account," the politician said.
