ArmInfo. The Republican Party of Armenia expresses its concern over the recent negative developments in the country, which are now taking on new manifestations, as noted in a statement issued by the party's executive body, announced by RA National Assembly Member Hayk Mamijanyan on March 4.
According to the statement, there are ongoing illegal attacks against the Armenian Apostolic Church in the country, a serious deterioration in the geopolitical situation is observed, and the disproportionate response of the Armenian authorities to this situation, clear abuse of administrative resources ahead of the parliamentary elections, and systemic destruction of democratic institutions pose a direct threat to sovereignty, stability, and constitutional order. "We clearly state: unless the situation changes, the upcoming parliamentary elections on June 7 cannot be considered free, fair, and democratic. They carry the risk of becoming a formality, allowing international actors to legitimize an anti-people and anti-state regime.
While emphasizing the importance of monitoring the upcoming elections and ensuring active citizen participation, we reaffirm that the legal resignation of the country's current leaders is essential to prevent the final collapse of Armenian statehood," the RPA statement reads. Based on the above, the RPA calls on all opposition forces and citizens to rise above narrow partisan interests and unite around the impeachment of the current Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. The RPA is launching a series of negotiations and consultations on this issue. "We are open to all forces willing to jointly form a transitional government led by a new candidate for prime minister who can restore democratic values and ensure truly free elections. Armenia's future cannot depend on a regime that disregards its own history and faith, his imprisoned sons, undermines the country's security, and fears the will of its own people. The time for action and unity has come," the RPA statement emphasized.
