ArmInfo. There are institutions in Armenia that, regardless of the prime minister's current activities, continue to function normally, as stated by Nikol Pashinyan during a government session on March 4, in response to a question from Agnessa Khamoyan, a deputy from the opposition "Armenia" faction.
The MP, presented a report by the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Republic of Armenia, according to which a war between Israel and Iran would expand the range of threats to Armenia, raising migration and other risks related to flow management, logistical problems, and increasing risks to the peaceful development of the South Caucasus. An MP asked the Prime Minister why, on the day the war began, the Armenian leader was seen eating pies in plain sight of everyone, as if nothing had happened.
In response, Nikol Pashinyan noted that the situation in Iran may be news to the Armenian opposition, but it's not a surprise to Armenia's state institutions. This situation, the Prime Minister continued, has been developing for years, as evidenced by numerous reports that have crossed his desk. "Of course, we all express our concerns about what's happening in and around Iran, publicly stating them. Just before the military conflict began, a Security Council meeting was held, which was followed by another meeting the next day. Prior to that, the Armenian Defense Minister visited Tehran. An interdepartmental working group, established after the events of previous years, has been working on the Iran issue for a long time. This working group has been working on a daily basis for months," Nikol Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister added that based on the MP's question, one could point to why, for example, the National Assembly session wasn't postponed. "As for eating pies, you can't tell by looking at you that you're on a hunger strike," Pashinyan said, dismissing Khamoyan's assertion that officials in the country are simply sleeping. "Then who ensures state security? We are a well-structured state, where everyone does their job. All our state institutions are functioning, and this is a very important achievement," the head of government noted.
