
ArmInfo. As of March 3, 31 Russian citizens have been evacuated from Iran via Armenia, 253 via Azerbaijan, and 8 via Turkmenistan, as announced by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova during a weekly briefing on March 4.
She emphasized that the Russian Foreign Ministry is making every effort to evacuate Russian citizens from Iran. Zakharova mentioned that information regarding the possibility of leaving Iran via Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkmenistan, as well as procedures for border crossings, was promptly published and continues to be updated on the websites of Russian diplomatic missions in Ashgabat, Baku, and Yerevan. "Our diplomats are in close contact with the relevant authorities in their host countries to ensure the speedy exit of Russian citizens. I maintain regular contact with our diplomats, and they highly appreciate and express gratitude for the representatives of the relevant authorities in Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkmenistan," she emphasized.
Additionally, the Russian diplomat noted that work to safely repatriate Russian citizens from Iran continues. "The Russian side expresses its sincere gratitude to Ashgabat, Baku, and Yerevan for their prompt and effective assistance in ensuring the unhindered exit of Russian citizens from Iran, who have found themselves in a very difficult situation. We highly appreciate the willingness of our friends and good neighbors to offer the necessary organizational and logistical assistance, as well as provide care to our citizens in their current predicament," Zakharova said.
