ArmInfo. Some Armenian citizens stranded in the United Arab Emirates during the escalation in the Middle East have returned home. The Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia confirmed this information to ArmInfo.
It was noted that the flight from Muscat, Oman, to Yerevan was operated by FlyOne Armenia. The plane arrived in the Armenian capital at 6:15 AM on March 3. In a telephone conversation with an ArmInfo correspondent, it was clarified that this was not an evacuation flight, but rather a regular one for the airline. The official number of passengers returning home has not yet been announced.
According to information posted on the FlyOne Armenia website, the cost of a single ticket from Muscat to Yerevan on March 3 ranged from EUR 949 to EUR 1,149. According to the schedule, a similar flight with a similar price is expected on March 4.
The day before, in a telephone conversation with journalists, Samvel Tadevosyan, an entrepreneur and public figure who was also in the United Arab Emirates during the escalation, noted that there are currently approximately 414 Armenians in the UAE. The day before, he posted on his Facebook page that he was ready to provide free transportation for his compatriots from the UAE to Oman. He received over 100 calls in 24 hours. In addition, the businessman paid for hotel accommodations for his compatriots. He also said that airlines are asking exorbitant prices for citizens to return to Armenia. The sum in question is over $200,000. That is, the cost of a single ticket ranges from $1,200 to $1,400. The businessman himself was only willing to cover part of the cost; he believed the state could subsidize the remainder. "I'm sure people would also be willing to pay up to $500 for a ticket," he said. "But their main panic is that they feel abandoned," he noted. At the same time, the businessman announced that he is ready to organize free transfers for our compatriots from Dubai to Muscat. It is worth noting that FlyOne Armenia previously announced a flight from Muscat to Yerevan on March 3, 2026. "Tickets are already available in the official FlyOne mobile app, and they will also be available on the airline's website soon. We recommend booking in advance to guarantee your seat," the airline's statement read.
As a reminder, on the morning of February 28, the United States and Israel attacked Iran. In retaliation, Iran launched strikes against American bases in the Middle East. As a result of the American-Israeli aggression, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking Iranian military officials were killed. The American side has so far confirmed the deaths of six of its soldiers. An Israeli strike on a girls' school in a province in southern Iran has killed, according to the latest figures, 170 students and their teachers, and wounded dozens more.
