ArmInfo. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araqchi, during which he expressed support for Iran in defending its sovereignty and legitimate rights, Chinese media reported on Monday.
Wang Yi told Araqchi that Beijing "supports Iran in defending its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and national dignity, and also supports Iran in defending its legitimate rights and interests."
According to the report, the Chinese minister called on the US and Israel "to immediately cease military operations, avoid escalating tensions, and prevent the conflict from spreading to the entire Middle East region."
Wang Yi also held a telephone conversation with Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi. In their conversation, the Chinese diplomat emphasized that the US and Israel "violated the purposes and principles of the UN Charter by deliberately inciting war against Iran."
