ArmInfo. Two of Iran's borders, including the one with Armenia, were closed for 24 hours due to problems with systems following the aggression against Iran, as stated by Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami at a press conference in Yerevan on March 2.
"As of 9:30 a.m., this issue has been resolved, and traffic from both sides is proceeding without any problems. Our consul general in Kapan is located right on the Iranian-Armenian border, and given that the relevant border systems had been down for over 24 hours, I tried to understand how citizens were moving and whether there were any crowds. He assured me there were none. According to him, there were 30-40 citizens waiting in line at the border, all of whom had international tickets and were scheduled to fly from Yerevan. There is the opposite option of the process: many of our citizens prefer flights to Yerevan, from where they reach Tehran by land," the Iranian ambassador said.
Shirgholami added that, according to the embassy's information yesterday, there were approximately 20 such citizens, and they assisted them in returning to Iran. "We have not observed or don't see any extraordinary flow of people at the border that could be called "refugees", and this did not happen during the 12-day war either," the diplomat added, emphasizing that Iran currently has no concerns about this. According to Iran, there are cases of Iranians moving from one region of the country to another for safety reasons, which is a natural process.
