ArmInfo. The US Embassy in Israel informed its staff on Friday that they could leave the country and urged anyone considering leaving to do so immediately, as the threat of a US strike on Iran loomed.
US Ambassador Mike Huckabee told embassy staff in an email that discussions with officials in Washington had led to the decision to allow departure for those seeking to leave.
The email was provided to the Associated Press by a person associated with the US mission who was not authorized to disclose details. The email urged staff considering departure to do so quickly, recommending they first focus on securing any flight out of Israel and then travel to Washington.
The email came the day after Iran and the US walked away from nuclear talks without a deal.
Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, who is mediating the talks, said significant progress had been made on Thursday, although Iranian and US officials have not yet announced further steps.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi did not provide specifics on Thursday but said that "what needs to happen has been clearly stated on our part." (WashingtonTimes)
