ArmInfo. The "Fatherland" Party, led by former Director of the National Security Service Artur Vanetsyan, will not participate in the elections to the National Assembly of Armenia scheduled for June 7.
The party's statement, in particular, notes that the political party's executive body, at its February 26 meeting, had comprehensively discussed the domestic political situation in Armenia, current internal and external challenges, as well as developments characteristic of the pre-election period. They decided to withdraw from the electoral process. The document emphasizes that a change of power is a priority task stemming from the state's strategic goals, the rationale and reasons for which have been given for many years. Acute domestic political tensions also persist, and the political landscape remains polarized, lacking a truly unifying state ideology and a clear system of values at its core. Mechanisms of legal and moral accountability to state institutions fail to provide effective counterbalance and oversight in practice. Political processes continue to be built on non-institutional logic, hindering the country's sustainable development.
In its statement, the party urged its members, supporters, and allies to cast their votes for any "genuine opposition force" in the upcoming parliamentary elections according to their own preference.
