ArmInfo. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi summarized the results of the recent round of talks with the United States in Geneva, describing them as the most serious and lengthy to date.
According to IRNA, the Iranian foreign minister noted that the work proceeded at a very intensive pace: the morning sessions lasted approximately four hours, and the evening sessions an additional two. The talks were held indirectly, with the active mediation of the Omani Foreign Minister. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi participated in the technical aspects of the dialogue, whose presence, according to Araghchi, was "useful from a technical standpoint."
The parties proceeded to a detailed examination of the elements of a potential agreement, both in the nuclear sphere and on sanctions lifting.
Araghchi emphasized that the parties have come significantly closer to mutual understanding on a number of issues. Despite the natural differences, the minister noted the growing determination of both sides to find a negotiated solution.
The Iranian Foreign Minister announced that an agreement had been reached to continue work at the expert level. Starting Monday, technical teams will begin consultations in Vienna at the IAEA headquarters. The specialists' task is to develop a detailed technical framework, which will subsequently be adapted to the political demands and positions of both sides. It is worth noting that experts predict US strikes against Iran if negotiations fail. The US has massed dozens of warships and fighter jets in the Middle East to strike Iran.
