ArmInfo.. The authorities are ready to raise not only pensions and benefits, but also the salaries of Yerevan kindergarten employees starting May 1 (two months before the elections).
"This is the second time in the last three years that Yerevan City Hall has the opportunity to address the issue of increasing the salaries of employees of the capital's kindergartens," as stated by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan during a Facebook live broadcast.
He recalled that a salary revision of 15-31% was also conducted in 2024. "And this year, starting in May, we will increase their salaries by 15-20%," he added. Thus, Avinyan emphasized, kindergarten teachers and directors will be able to benefit from the Universal Health Insurance program, as their salaries exceed the 200,000 drams threshold. The remaining employees will benefit from the health insurance policy offered by the Yerevan City Hall.
The day before, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced an increase in pensions, effective April 1, 2026. When asked why the authorities decided to increase pensions and benefits now, Pashinyan noted that Armenia's economic growth in 2025 surpassed projections, creating additional opportunities. Secondly, the universal health insurance system was introduced on January 1. While there was some uncertainty regarding the government's forecasts and the extent to which budget allocations would be sufficient to cover these needs, the current analysis of January and February showed that the budget could handle the new expenditures. "Therefore," the head of the Armenian Cabinet emphasized, "it is important to record that the authorities have fully fulfilled and are fulfilling their commitment to align the minimum pension with the minimum food basket, and the average pension with the consumer basket, as we were supposed to do by June 2026," the RA Prime Minister concluded.
