ArmInfo. The Moldovan parliamentary election scenarios are being duplicated in Armenia. Political observer and expert at the Strategic Culture Foundation, Andrei Areshev, shared this opinion during a Moscow-Yerevan video conference, responding to information previously disseminated by Radio Liberty that "Armenia has requested a rapid hybrid response team from the EU to counter Russia ahead of the parliamentary elections in Armenia in June, 2026."
According to the expert, pro-Western propaganda is thus disguised as a fight against disinformation and "Kremlin machinations." "There are quite close ties between the regimes of Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. These ties extend not only through their foreign policy ministries, but also, apparently, through their intelligence services. We know that significant resources are being allocated to such information operations, both in Moldova and Armenia. This involves manipulating public opinion ahead of the elections, with the goal of creating a narrative that would facilitate the success of pro-Western forces in the Armenian elections, which also have geopolitical implications," the political scientist concluded.
Earlier, Radio Liberty reported that it had a letter from Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan to Brussels in their possession. In the letter he "requested that a rapid response team be sent to Yerevan to counter Kremlin disinformation and Russian interference in the Armenian parliamentary elections, and then, possibly, a more permanent civilian mission." In this regard, it was noted that the EU had sent a similar team of approximately 20 people to Chisinau during last year's parliamentary elections "to help the Moldovan authorities identify and counter disinformation emanating from Russia on social media." According to Radio Liberty, EU member states have urged their diplomatic corps and foreign service to "continue contacts with Azerbaijan, clarifying the purpose of EU support for Armenia and emphasizing the need to avoid negative impacts on the peace process." It should be added that the EU's top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, had previously announced the allocation of 15 million euros to Armenia to "counter Russian propaganda."
