ArmInfo. The normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia is directly linked to the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Turkish Parliament, told reporters. According to him, these processes are being carried out in parallel, Apa reports.
"We hope that all of this will develop very rapidly and the region's agenda will no longer be defined by conflicts, but by peace, prosperity, and development. From now on, we will focus more on the future." The TBMM committee chairman stated that within the framework of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, both the transportation of wheat brought via Kazakhstan and Russia, and the commencement of trade relations, demonstrate Azerbaijan's self-confidence.
He noted that Azerbaijan has already begun to implement such an agreement practically in stages, even before the planned agreement is officially signed and legal obligations are incurred: "This is a very important indicator and demonstrates Azerbaijan's self-confidence."
The launch of the normalization process was announced on December 13, 2021, by the then-Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu. He also emphasized that Ankara would coordinate with Azerbaijan on steps to normalize relations with Armenia. The parties appointed special representatives for the normalization process, Ruben Rubinyan and Serdar K?l?c, who held several rounds of negotiations. An agreement was reached to open the Armenian-Turkish border to third-country nationals
