ArmInfo.Raising pensions is an urgent necessity, but doing so just to keep one's seat in parliament is extremely immoral, Mane Tandilyan, co-founder of the "Country to Live" party, wrote.
"When pension increases are carried out several months before elections, despite Nikol Pashinyan stating back in January, 'If we, for example, raise pensions by 20,000 drams, the problems won't be solved,' it indicates that the authorities' goal is solely to maintain their position amid a sharp drop in ratings. This means that such an opportunity existed, but they didn't take advantage of it, hoping for bonuses. That's why pensioners should punish such behavior by not voting. It's shameful to turn pensioners' vulnerable state into an election toy. Pensioners, and society as a whole, must understand that short-term populist moves conceal a danger that will lead to serious problems for our state and the entire population, and the cost of this is a thousand times higher than 10,000 drams. Therefore, there is no alternative to a change of power under any circumstances. The government, which has led the country to ruin, must resign through elections held by our compatriots, including pensioners," the politician stated.
Recall, today, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that pensions will be increased by 10,000 drams starting April 1. The opposition saw this move as an election ploy, as the elections are scheduled for June 7.
