ArmInfo.Oligarch Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, believes the country must emerge from the current situation of new demands, threats of force from Azerbaijan, new concessions from Armenia, and the illusion of peace.
On his Facebook page, he noted that today's choice is not between peace and war. "It is unfair when our people are told that other political forces 'want war.' There is no political force in Armenia that wants war. We need a guaranteed peace. A guaranteed peace is a system of agreements anchored in international legal and realistic mechanisms and supported by clear instruments of control and accountability. Any agreement without guarantees is vulnerable. Armenia must be faithful to its obligations while constantly developing its potential to increase its influence in the region. The country must work with its allies to create new, realistic security guarantees," Gagik Tsarukyan emphasized.
At the same time, the oligarch believes, Armenia should work on implementing alternative routes and communications (Armenia-Georgia-Russia, Armenia-Iran), new large-scale economic projects, and new infrastructure programs. "This will significantly enhance our security. Our security should not be based on contradictions that place us at the epicenter of a clash of global power centers. It should be based on the principle of complementarity, convergence of interests, and geopolitical bridges. Without a strong economy, there is no stable diplomacy, reliable defense, or full sovereignty. Economic security is the foundation of national security. We need to understand the structure of our economy, the logic of business, the complex mechanisms of creating and preserving jobs, and not mislead with beautiful words and false hopes. Honesty requires us to admit that the EAEU market currently has no realistic alternative. It gives our economy real potential for breathing and development. It is important that we take advantage of these opportunities and not destroy what exists. Destruction is easy, but the consequences are often tragic. Within the EAEU, we have enormous resources for development; we can take advantage of great opportunities. Yes, in parallel with this, we need new technologies, and here cooperation with the West (the EU, the US) is extremely important. In terms of technology and investment, we also have enormous potential. "We have enormous scope for developing our relations with China. We have enormous scope for work in global economic friendship with India, as well as with the Arab world. Competent and targeted work is necessary in all these areas. Peace is guaranteed by internal strength, internal solidarity, sound diplomacy, a sound defense system, multilateral and effective economic and allied cooperation, and honest and constructive work with all sectors of society," the oligarch emphasized.
He added that guaranteed peace is a state where people plan their lives not for months but for years; where parents calmly consider their children's future; where young people consider staying in their homeland, settling down, and starting a family; where a businessman makes investments confident in predictability; where a soldier is confident that he has not only weapons behind him, but also a strong economy, professional diplomacy, and a cohesive society. Guaranteed peace is the key idea behind Armenia's restoration and national revival, which presupposes the joint, dedicated, and competent work of all capable forces and individuals. "I am convinced that Armenia can take this path," concluded Gagik Tsarukyan.
