ArmInfo. Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan, at a meeting with Artur Erken, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), praised the cooperation with the IOM since the opening of the Yerevan office, particularly emphasizing the organization's role in addressing the needs of displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Kostanyan presented the steps being taken toward the integration of Artsakh refugees, including citing the "Inclusive National Framework for Support to Refugees and Host Communities," which outlines the Armenian government's strategy in this area for the next three years. Housing and employment programs were also mentioned.
Following Azerbaijan's large-scale aggression against Artsakh in September 2023, the entire Armenian population of the NKR was forced to flee their homeland under threat of death. Over 150,000 Artsakh residents have fled their homes amid the international community's inaction. Today, the people of Artsakh are deprived of any adequate assistance from the Armenian government and are barely making ends meet. Videos regularly appear online depicting the dire situation of the refugees amid the lack of state support.
