ArmInfo. US President Donald Trump is considering several options for a military operation against Iran, including a limited strike aimed at strengthening Washington's negotiating position with Tehran, ABC News reports, citing a source briefed on the planning process.
Along with this option, according to the source, Trump was also considering massive strikes against government, military, and nuclear targets in Iran.
A day earlier, the president expressed the opinion that Iran has 10-15 days to reach an agreement with the US on the nuclear issue and assured that Washington will get a deal "one way or another." Trump again warned that "very bad things will happen to Iran" if an agreement is not reached.
Upon the arrival of the second carrier group in the Middle East, the number of US troops in the region will reach 40,000. ABC sources claim that the existing forces are sufficient to attack the initial list of targets in an operation that could last several weeks. However, it remains unclear whether Trump's show of force is a negotiating tactic designed to force Iran to make concessions, or whether the president intends to overthrow the Iranian government.
