It was emphasized that since Armenia's independence, relations between the two countries have been developing dynamically, based on historical friendship and mutual trust.
"I am glad to be in Athens today, the cradle of Western civilization and democracy. The friendship between our peoples and countries has deep historical roots, upon which our current cooperation is built. The Friendship groups in the parliaments of Greece and Armenia are working effectively, contributing to the continuous development of collaboration between the two countries," Khachaturyan noted, according to the presidential press service.
In turn, Nikitas Kaklamanis noted that Greece and Armenia are bound by centuries-old historical and cultural ties. "We reaffirm our support for the Republic of Armenia. The Chairman of the Friendship Group of the Hellenic Parliament is present here. This will be an excellent opportunity to discuss several strategic issues. I would like to emphasize that all fair demands put forward by the Republic of Armenia will be supported by Greece. I would also like to emphasize the role of the Armenian community, which is of great importance," he said.
The parties discussed the potential for enhancing parliamentary diplomacy. They highlighted the significant role of the friendship groups in both countries' parliaments as an important tool for strengthening interstate relations. The importance of sharing experiences, cooperating in legislative processes, and implementing joint initiatives aimed at developing democratic institutions was underscored. The expansion of cooperation on international platforms, the intensification of mutual visits and the continuation of dialogue on strategic issues were also mentioned. It was emphasized that the cooperation between the parliaments of Armenia and Greece plays an important role in advancing bilateral relations.
