ArmInfo. The RA Anti-Corruption Committee has established that the commander of Military Unit N of the RA Ministry of Defense, in order to create a situation requiring improved housing conditions, formally alienated other real estate belonging to him and fraudulently appropriated an apartment provided to him for free use by order of the Minister of Defense.
Specifically, a preliminary investigation revealed that a Defense Ministry official, permanently residing in the apartment owned by him and his wife, on October 9, 2018, submitted false information to the MOD Central Housing Commission regarding the provision of housing. Based on this information, the commission issued a positive decision to grant the latter an apartment at an address in Yerevan for free use. As a result, in July 2019, an apartment valued at 21,400,000 drams, which was on the books of the Ministry of Defense, was transferred free of charge to the aforementioned official.
The latter was charged under Article 178, Part 3, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, adopted on April 18, 2003 and repealed on July 1, 2022 (corresponding to Article 255, Part 3, Clause 3 of the current Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia).
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and the case materials have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia along with the indictment.
