ArmInfo.Surgical treatment for children with cerebral palsy (CP) will become possible in Yerevan, as announced by David Karapetyan, Head of the Health Department, during a working meeting at the Yerevan City Hall on February 16.
He noted that this development was made possible after a visit to Shanghai with a delegation from the Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center. During the visit, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Armenian medical center and the Shanghai Children's Hospital.
Thanks to this agreement, the Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center will be able to provide surgical and rehabilitative treatment for cerebral palsy. Karapetyan reported that as part of their visit to Shanghai, Armenian doctors had already performed joint surgeries with Shanghai specialists, and this April, similar surgeries will be performed in Armenia for the first time. According to the head of the department, the specialized equipment will be sent to Armenia by the Chinese side soon.
Additionally, Karapetyan reported that a memorandum is in process with another Shanghai medical center to facilitate personnel exchanges, joint surgeries, and other related activities.
