ArmInfo. Military-technical cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation is developing on the basis of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance of August 29, 1997, and has a number of historical and geopolitical prerequisites. This was stated by Armenian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Gurgen Arsenyan at a gala reception dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the founding of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.
"However, the main component of this interaction is the centuries-old friendship between our peoples, the historical commonality of our countries, and the enduring memory of our shared Victory in the Great Patriotic War," the Armenian diplomat said, according to the Armenian Embassy in the Russian Federation.
"The Army's main achievements in recent years include equipping it with fundamentally new, high-quality weapons, successfully implementing voluntary military certification programs, introducing a sergeant system, reducing the length of mandatory military service, and digitalization," Arsenyan added.
The reception also featured speeches from the Embassy's Military Attache, Colonel Garegin Meliksetyan, and Major General Viktor Shevtsov, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for International Military Cooperation of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense, ambassadors of foreign states accredited to Russia, military attaches, and other distinguished guests participated in the event.
