Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this on February 9 in Yerevan during a joint statement with US Vice President J.D. Vance.
"Today, together with Vice President Vance, we signed a joint statement concluding negotiations between the governments of Armenia and the United States on the 123 agreement on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. This agreement will open a new chapter in the deepening energy partnership between Armenia and the United States, will contribute to the diversification of Armenia's energy resources, and will attract safe and innovative technologies. I also expressed gratitude for the United States' long-standing support in the field of nuclear safety and reaffirmed our readiness to further develop industry cooperation in key areas for both countries," he said.
Pashinyan added that Armenia and the United States expressed interest in developing cooperation in ensuring the production and export chain of rare industrial rocks and minerals. He said that the issues of institutional reforms in Armenia and the continuation of long-standing US support aimed at strengthening state institutions and developing their capabilities were naturally touched upon.
"In this regard, I emphasized the importance of the support provided to Armenia for developing the potential of the Crossroads of the World program. We mutually noted that relations between Armenia and the United States are stronger than ever and expressed our readiness to further develop them for the benefit of our peoples," Pashinyan said.
In his speech, the head of the Armenian government noted the importance of unblocking communications. In this vein, he also emphasized the importance of completing the process of normalizing relations with Turkey, including by launching the Gyumri-Kars railway.
