ArmInfo. Hayk Sargsyan, a member of the National Assembly of Armenia from the ruling Civil Contract faction, denies any involvement in corrupt deals. Speaking at a briefing on February 6, he commented on hints from Armenian President Nikol Pashinyan about his possible involvement in a corruption crime.
The MP recalled that in 2018, Nikol Pashinyan led and implemented a non-violent velvet revolution, subsequently becoming the leader of the Armenian government. Hayk Sargsyan noted that he did not wish to engage in a remote discussion on this issue, adding that no one, at least not in his presence, had accused him of corruption. "I only learned from the press that some party board members accused me of corruption. If this indeed happened, it constitutes a gross violation of the party charter, Article 21, Section 7 of which clearly states that a party member has the right to be present at all discussions related to his or her conduct," the parliamentarian noted.
Responding to journalists' questions about prosecutors mentioning NA MP Hovik Agazaryan's name during the criminal trial, Hayk Sargsyan dismissed this as a lie and untruth. He emphasized that he had never been summoned or charged with any crime. "I learned about this from the press. The media may name dozens of people-MPs, prosecutors, and investigators-but that doesn't mean they are involved in this case," the ruling party MP emphasized.
