ArmInfo. Claims circulating in the media and on social media that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has approved holding an LGBT community parade in Yerevan on April 7 are false, as stated by Nazeli Baghdasaryan, the Prime Minister's spokesperson.
"The disseminated material bears the typical hallmarks of Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) and is a component of hybrid influence campaigns. The author of the publication, Okay Deprem, has previously repeatedly disseminated false and manipulative information about the state institutions of Armenia, as recorded by both Armenian and international expert circles," Baghdasaryan wrote on her social media account.
According to her, the purpose of such publications is the polarization of society and the weakening of trust in state institutions ahead of the electoral processes.
Under the post, Nazeli Baghdasaryan shared a screenshot from the CGTN Turk website (the Turkish- language platform of the China Global Television Network) and the Azerbaijani website Haqqin.az. In the CGTN publication, its author, Okay Deprem, notes that "Armenia is one of the neighboring countries where LGBT movement has rapidly begun organizing in recent years, first attempting to legalize and then preparing to take to the streets." Recently, reports have emerged that the LGBT movement is planning a new march and a new rally in the country after many years. It's even claimed that the llong-planned Western-born movement will hold its first "Love Parade" in the capital, Yerevan, along Tamanyan Avenue, one of the city's main streets. Furthermore, according to some rumors, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is also said to be open to legalizing the movement and its entry into the public sphere to gain another "plus" from the Western world. he loves so much. "This event is scheduled for April 7-the day Armenians traditionally celebrate Motherhood and Beauty Day."
