
ArmInfo. A discussion with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan took place in Brussels at the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee.
According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service, Mirzoyan delivered a speech, followed by a question-and-answer session with members of parliament. The discussion was moderated by Committee Chairman David McAllister and was attended by members of most political factions, including the Head of the Delegation for Relations with the South Caucasus, the Co-Chair of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, and the Rapporteur on Armenia.
Mirzoyan presented significant changes since the previous meeting in this format, in particular the establishment of peace and the development of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The implementation of the agreements reached to unblock regional communications and existing achievements were discussed in detail. The importance of ensuring an inclusive transport and economic connectivity network was emphasized. Speaking about Armenia's ambitious democratic reform program, Mirzoyan noted that the choice is between sovereign democracy and an authoritarian path leading to subjugation, and Yerevan has already made its choice.
Mirzoyan and the MEPs exchanged views on the prospects for deepening relations between Armenia and the EU, emphasizing their firm commitment to implementing the strategic partnership program.
The Armenian Foreign Minister answered questions regarding international and regional developments, hybrid threats, and efforts to effectively counter them. The MEPs praised the Republic of Armenia's commitment and role in advancing the peace agenda and democratic reforms.
The Armenian diplomat expressed gratitude for the European Parliament's continued support on key issues for Armenia.
