ArmInfo. Very interesting geopolitical processes are taking place in the world: the old world order has collapsed, and a new one is only just emerging. This was stated by the second President of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, at a press conference on January 29.
According to him, the most interesting thing is that the United States is the initiator of the destruction of the old world order, and it is also shaping the new global agenda. This is also noted in the new US security concept.
One of the main tenets of this agenda is that Washington recognizes that the world has become multipolar. In fact, Kocharyan continued, the United States is abandoning the ideology of geopolitical hegemony. At the same time, the second President of the Republic of Armenia continued, Washington recognizes China as its main adversary. The document emphasizes that Russia is ready to build pragmatic and constructive relations with the United States, while these relations with Europe can be characterized as derogatory. Essentially, the point is that Europe is deteriorating. "This word isn't used directly, but the content of this document points to precisely that. Curiously, the South Caucasus isn't mentioned at all in this document. It's mentioned zero, which means only one thing: the United States has no fundamental interests in our region, neither economic nor security interests," the second president of Armenia noted.
On the other hand, as Robert Kocharyan noted, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that he has no interest in international law; the only thing that constrains him is his morality and his worldview.
"US Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller himself has repeatedly stated: we are a superpower, and we will act like one. Essentially, geopolitics is a thing of the past. In this situation, we must navigate between a multipolar world and the politics of coercion. In this situation, the outcome can be twofold: either a major war or a division of the world between centers of influence. What is Trump doing? He is, through controlled escalation, truly moving toward dividing the world between zones of influence," the second President of Armenia emphasized.
He continued that in this complex and dangerous situation, Armenia must do everything possible to prevent the possibility of a clash of superpower interests in the region. "During a storm, the captain of a small vessel does not take it out to sea in order to protect both the vessel and its crew. This behavior of the vessel's captain is directly linked to the policy of the Republic of Armenia," Robert Kocharyan noted, adding that the republic must under no circumstances find itself at the epicenter of a clash of superpower interests. He recalled Georgia during the presidency of Mikheil Saakashvili, who attempted to play the West and Russia, which ultimately led to war and territorial losses. A similar situation is observed today in Ukraine, where President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attempted to play the NATO and Western card against Russia, which led to a catastrophic war and territorial losses.
"Nikol Pashinyan (Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia - ed.) also entered into similar games, resulting in war, human and territorial losses," Robert Kocharyan noted.
