ArmInfo."I regret that a situation has arisen where the President of Armenia thanks the President of Azerbaijan," stated Artur Vanetsyan, Chairman of the Fatherland Party, on January 27 in a conversation with journalists at the Yerablur military pantheon, commenting on the words of gratitude expressed by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during the Davos conference.
"This is incomprehensible to these people; perhaps they shouldn't be called people at all. Their behavior and approach are regrettable. This situation has arisen, and I hope it will soon be corrected," he said.
Earlier, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev several times in Davos. Speaking at the "Defining the Economic Identity of Eurasia" session at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, he stated that the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan have demonstrated political will and courage to take steps to strengthen peace, which has not been achieved in over 30 years. He noted that while this would have been hard to imagine just a couple of years ago, cargo is now flowing from Azerbaijan to Armenia via Georgia. The time will come when the countries will be able to send cargo directly to each other, he concluded, thanking both sides and noting the role of US President Donald Trump, who "has taken responsibility for arranging the signing of the agreements."
