ArmInfo. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeskian. The two discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and Iran, as well as regional issues.
According to Anadolu, citing the Turkish presidential press service, Erdogan stated that he was closely following events in Iran. He noted that Turkey attaches great importance to peace and stability in Iran. He added that Ankara has never supported external interference in Iran's affairs.
President Erdogan emphasized that resolving problems and preventing escalation of tensions in the region is in Turkey's interests.
Protests in Iran began on December 28, 2025, due to the devaluation of the national currency. They subsequently escalated into unrest and were accompanied by slogans against Iran's political system. More than 3,000 deaths have been reported as a result of the unrest in the country, including among security forces. The internet remains shut down in Iran.
