On January 20, it was reported that US President Donald Trump invited Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to join the Board of Peace for Gaza as a founding member. The Prime Minister "pleasedly and responsibly accepted this offer, reaffirming Armenia's commitment to promoting peace."
Earlier, Trump announced the creation of the Peace Council on Gaza and said he would name its members soon. Invitations were also received by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
Bloomberg reports that the administration of US President Donald Trump is asking countries seeking a permanent seat on the Peace Council to contribute at least $1 billion. According to the agency, according to the organization's draft charter, Trump will serve as the first chairman and will be the sole decision-maker in inviting members. Decisions will be made by majority vote-one vote per member state-but all are subject to approval by the chairman. The document stipulates that each member state will hold a seat for no more than three years from the date the charter comes into force, with the possibility of extension by decision of the chairman. This term does not apply to countries that contribute more than $1 billion in cash in the first year of the charter.
