ArmInfo. Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff on Thursday. Putin's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, previously confirmed plans for the meeting.
Witkoff, in turn, stated that the Russian side had requested it. He also announced that he would arrive in Moscow accompanied by the US president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
Kushner has already accompanied Witkoff on his trips to Moscow, during which the Ukrainian peace process was discussed.
Ahead of his current visit, the US Special Presidential Envoy noted the significant progress achieved on this issue in recent weeks. He expressed the belief that Russia would agree to an agreement on Ukraine. At the same time, Witkoff clarified that territorial issues remain the main obstacle to a settlement.
"Everyone wants to achieve a peace agreement," Witkoff concluded.
In turn, Putin stated on Wednesday that he also intends to discuss with Witkoff and Kushner the possibility of using frozen Russian assets in the United States to rebuild territories damaged during the fighting after the conclusion of a peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine.
Following a telephone conversation with Putin on December 29, 2025, US President Donald Trump also stated that "one or two very difficult issues," including territorial ones, remain to be resolved in resolving the conflict.
On Tuesday, Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian President's Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, met with Witkoff and Kushner on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. He described the conversation as constructive. Witkoff, in turn, called it "very positive."
Putin's previous meeting with Witkoff and Kushner took place in Moscow on December 2, 2025. (INTERFAX)
