ArmInfo. The Foreign Intelligence Service (FSI) of Armenia predicts increased pressure on the country from various external actors amid the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7, 2026.
"In the context of the upcoming 2026 elections, efforts to influence Armenia by various external actors will likely become more extensive, complex, and comprehensive. This will likely include dissemination of false, distorted, or decontextualized information, malicious digital activities targeting national infrastructure and discourse, Activation of "on-the-ground" intelligence assets and the creation of manufactured "local" political activism, Exploitation and manipulation of the political views and patriotic sentiments of youth and activist groups," states the FSI's report on Armenia's external risks in 2026.
The report also mentions international terrorism, emphasizing that in 2026, it will continue to be a constantly evolving and transforming global threat, encompassing a wider geography. The FSI believes that 2026 is expected to offer broad opportunities for testing new weapon systems on the battlefield, shortening the cycle between production and combat application.
"The role of drones in counter-unmanned aerial vehicles will likely expand, opening up new prospects for the integration of unmanned and manned aircraft. AI will continue to transform the battlefield. While not replacing human presence entirely, it is fundamentally altering the decision-making functions of commanders," the FSI report states.
