ArmInfo. Hayk Demoyan, former director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, reported a search of his apartment.
According to him, by decision of Judge Masis Melkonyan of the Yerevan Criminal Court of First Instance and at the request of Anna Khachatryan, Senior Investigator of the Malatia-Sebastia Administrative District of the RA Investigative Committee, parallel searches were conducted at his apartment in Yerevan and Gyumri.
Demoyan recalled that a criminal case was opened on June 7, 2021, based on a report from Harutyun Marutyan, director of the museum-institute. "I received the notice and appeared for questioning. Moreover, both interrogations were organized at my suggestion and initiative. I informed the senior investigator in charge of the case, Lusine Haykyan, that the submitted list of allegedly stolen items was false and that Harutyun Marutyan had provided false information during the preliminary investigation, which is a criminal offense. A week after providing this written testimony, the investigator in charge of the case informed me that my written testimony had been lost. I publicly recorded this fact, after which Lusine Haykyan informed me in writing that my lost testimony had been found. As a result of the search, the investigative authorities today confiscated a brass commemorative medal issued in 2001 to mark the 1700th anniversary of Christianity in Armenia. I purchased it last October at Vernissage for 3,000 drams," Demoyan noted. He also demanded that security forces conduct searches in the homes of Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Chairman of the National Assembly Committee of the Republic of Armenia Vladimir Vardanyan, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan, Rector of Yerevan State University Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, and Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum Harutyun Marutyan.
"I will closely monitor similar searches of the apartments of the following: Ararat Mirzoyan. In the criminal case, I mentioned his possible theft of books, emphasizing the need to study the materials of the criminal case opened in 2007, based on my report and Mirzoyan's testimony. Vladimir Vardanyan is also suspected of theft of books.
