ArmInfo. Lawyer Aram Vardevanyan has called the developments surrounding the case of Samvel Karapetyan, a Russian- Armenian businessman and the head of the Tashir Group of Companies, a violation of the law.
As ArmInfo previously reported, the Anti-Corruption Court of Appeals has overturned Judge Sargis Petrosyan's decision to place Samvel Karapetyan under house arrest. Following this decision, Karapetyan's lawyer, Ruben Hakobyan, suggested that could potentially be arrested again.
As lawyer Aram Vardevanyan pointed out on his Facebook page, in accordance with Article 285 of the Criminal Procedure Code, a motion to extend the period of arrest or house arrest must be submitted to the court no later than five days before the expiration of the relevant preventive measure. "As required by this regulation, the Investigative Committee initially requested house arrest for Karapetyan. Prosecutor Dallakyan withdrew this motion for house arrest and filed for his arrest. This is not a violation of law or rights but rather an assault on rights," the lawyer wrote.
