ArmInfo.Gegham Manukyan, a member of the Armenian parliament from the opposition "Armenia" faction, accused the Turkish authorities of interfering in the internal affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
"Turkey is interfering in Armenia's internal political and electoral affairs, and in the formation of the future government," the MP wrote on his Facebook page.
He supported his words by noting that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told reporters on January 15 that elections would be held in Armenia in early June, which would be an important milestone. Manukyan also noted that Fidan also noted that Pashinyan currently leads public opinion, and that Ankara truly supports the constructive role he has played in this matter, adding that this line and this desire must continue. Furthermore, the Dashnaktsakan also noted Fidan's words regarding the route through southern Armenia, where he expressed hope that they would see "the Zangezur Corridor implemented as Azerbaijan desires, because it is important in terms of the Middle Corridor." The Turkish official assured that such a desire currently exists at the political leadership level in Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey, on all three sides.
In this regard, Manukyan wondered how many representatives of the Armenian government would publicly point the finger at Fidan and declare his interference in Armenia's sovereign affairs unacceptable, as they did just a few days ago in the case of Russian journalist Vladimir Solovyov.
"They won't do this, because in the coming months, Baku and Ankara will become the saviors and helpers of this government, they will replicate it, and complete its plans," the opposition leader expressed conviction.
