


ArmInfo. Armenian statesman and public figure Gagik Yeganyan has passed away. He was 69.
Gagik Yeganyan was born in the village of Arakel, Hadrut Province, Artsakh, in 1956. On his father's side, he belonged to the Melik-Yeganyan dynasty of Artsakh, and on his mother's side, to the Mikoyan family, known for its state and military activities.
He graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Yerevan State University with a degree in economics and mathematics. He holds a PhD in economics, an associate professor, and is also a distinguished lecturer at Yerevan State University.
Yeganyan served on the Council of Ministers of the Armenian SSR, and over the years held the following positions: Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security of the Armenian SSR, First Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security of Armenia, Minister of Labor and Social Security of Armenia, and Head of the Department of Migration and Refugee Issues under the Government of Armenia. He left his position as head of the Armenian government's Department of Migration and Refugee Affairs following the Velvet Revolution of 2018.
