ArmInfo. Russia and Turkey's participation in the Trump Route for International Peace and Cooperation (TRIPP) project was not discussed with the American partners in Washington. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this at a press conference in Washington following the signing of the framework agreement for the implementation of the TRIPP project.
Responding to a question about Turkey's possible participation in the project, the minister noted that the issue was not discussed. He added that TRIPP is being considered as a joint Armenian-American business project. However, he noted that in the broader context of unblocking the road, it is clear that a major logistical transition will not be possible without Turkey's participation, nor will Armenia's unblocking. The minister stated that discussions with Turkey are quite fruitful and will yield results in the near future. He also noted that without the Gyumri-Kars road, cargo will not be able to travel through Turkey to Europe. Mirzoyan believes it would be logical for Turkey to become part of the unblocking process, but not specifically through TRIPP, perhaps as a continuation of it.
When asked to clarify whether Russia's participation had been raised, Mirzoyan again denied it. According to the minister, the framework of TRIPP is clear. "However, in a broader unblocking process, the participation of immediate or distant neighbors is possible; we do not intend to leave Russia out," the Armenian Foreign Minister stated. He also reiterated that Russia's participation in projects outside of TRIPP is possible, especially given Russia's involvement in projects within Armenia.
