ArmInfo. Clémence Goetté, Vice President of the National Assembly (lower house of parliament) of France, introduced a resolution calling for the country's withdrawal from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), reports a Dunyo news agency correspondent.
"Recently, the issue of France's participation in NATO—a military alliance led by the United States and serving its interests—has become more pressing than ever. I am proposing a resolution on the planned withdrawal from NATO, beginning with the withdrawal of the unified command," the deputy wrote on social media.
Clémence Goetté, a left-wing representative, also criticized US actions against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and plans to annex Greenland, and expressed dissatisfaction with the US support for Israel during the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Support for leaving NATO is consistent with the position of the "France Unbowed" movement, which stated back in 2022 that the alliance "should have been dissolved after the end of the Cold War."
Earlier, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also expressed concern that NATO could cease to exist, commenting on US government statements about Greenland.
