ArmInfo. 4,040 families forcibly displaced from Artsakh have benefited from the state housing support program, as stated by Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan during a press conference on January 9.
He noted that this figure is unsatisfactory and pointed out that one of the reasons for this decline is the reluctance of compatriots from Artsakh to become citizens of the Republic of Armenia due to several objective and subjective reasons. In this regard, the Minister said that obtaining citizenship not only grants rights but also entails obligations, including military service in the Armed Forces. However, Torosyan assured that the peace agenda being implemented will weaken this factor, leading to a quicker process of obtaining citizenship for Artsakh residents. Political stability, he added, will also contribute to this improved dynamic.
Recalling that the amount of assistance under the housing support program certificates ranges from 3 to 5 million drams (per family member), the Minister emphasized that if the amount is insufficient for their preferred housing, our compatriots can obtain additional loans. He also announced that, starting July 1, the state will implement a new initiative to assist beneficiaries of this program in developing small businesses.
