ArmInfo.Today, January 9, marks the 80-th birthday of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, the first president of Armenia.
In this regard, Levon Zurabyan, Deputy Chairman of the Armenian National Congress, has posted a congratulatory message on his Facebook page, which, in particular, reads: "In 1675, Isaac Newton wrote one of his most famous lines in a letter, possibly borrowed from the great 12th-century French philosopher Bernard of Chartres: 'If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon on the shoulders of giants.'" If today, the Armenian National Congress team offers more modern and innovative solutions in governance than anyone else, it's because we stand on the shoulders of such a giant as Levon Ter-Petrosyan. Our ideas and proposed solutions can and should evolve with time and progress, being appropriate to our existing resources and a dynamically developing world. However, the core will always be rooted in rational political thinking and a comprehensive understanding of the modern world. Happy birthday, Mr. President!"
Recall that Levon Ter-Petrosyan was elected the first president of Armenia on October 16, 1991 and was re-elected for a second term on September 22, 1996. He resigned in February 1998.
