ArmInfo. Our task is to restore the unity of the church and the people. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a briefing on January 8.
He noted that the current situation surrounding the church has not led to a schism, but rather to more people attending church and participating in services, including members of the opposition.
According to the Prime Minister, the schism between the people and the church occurred a long time ago. The cause, he noted, is the actions of senior clergy who have isolated the church from the people. "But the church, first and foremost, belongs to the people," Pashinyan said.
As a reminder, on December 5, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the creation of a Coordination Council, which will organize the process of reforming the Armenian Apostolic Church. He published a roadmap for resolving this issue. The statement establishing the council was signed by Nikol Pashinyan and 10 bishops. They also became members of the council.
