ArmInfo. The Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia has established that the deputy commander of Battalion N of the RA Ministry of Defense's military unit, in agreement with the unit's warehouse manager and using his official authority, committed a large-scale theft of diesel fuel by a group of individuals.
Specifically, a preliminary investigation revealed that the deputy battalion commander of the military unit did not deposit the surplus diesel fuel in the warehouse, but instead approached the platoon commander of the same military unit with a request to sell it and find a buyer. The fuel was then transported from the military unit in the buyer's vehicle and sold, with the proceeds divided between the individuals.
They then attempted to transport another 2 tons of diesel fuel from the military unit using the same vehicle for resale, but the group members were unable to complete the crime as the warehouse manager was detained. Cases of embezzlement and attempted embezzlement have been initiated against the deputy battalion commander of the military unit and the warehouse manager under Article 256, Part 2, Clauses 1 and 2, and Article 44-256, Part 2, Clauses 1, 2, and 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
Case has also been initiated against the platoon commander and the fuel purchaser. The latter has been placed under house arrest as a preventive measure. During the preliminary investigation, the damage caused to the state was fully compensated.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and the case materials, along with the indictment, have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia.
